The Camps

Critter Camp

Where: Museum of York County
Ages: Students entering Grade K5
Limit: 15 participants
Dates: June 7 - 11
Register by Wed, May 26
Time: Mon - Fri: 9 a.m. - noon
Cost: CHM Members $70/week, Non-Members $90/week

Play games, make crafts, eat silly snacks and have lots of fun while learning about animals that leap, fly, or crawl! This small-group setting is perfect for both first-timers and experienced campers.

Time Travelers Camp

Where: Historic Brattonsville
Ages: Students entering Grades 4, 5 & 6
Limit: 15 participants
Dates: June 14 - 18
Register by Wed, June 2
Time: Monday - Thurs: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. & Fri: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Cost: CHM Members $165/week, Non-Members $185/week

Travel through time from the pioneer backcountry, to the Revolutionary War, to an 1800s cotton plantation. Learn to cook over an open fire, drill with soldiers, write with a quill pen, play historic games, and much more.

Junior Explorers Camp

Where: Museum of York County
Ages: Students entering Grades 1 & 2
Limit: 15 participants
Dates: June 21 - 25

Cost: CHM Members $100/week, Non-Members $120/week

Pack your bags, and grab your passport - we’re going on safari in Africa! We’ll learn about African animals and their environments, and explore cultural traditions through stories and the arts. Junior Explorers must bring a lunch each day.

Nature Detectives Camp

Where: Museum of York County
Ages: Students entering Grades 2 & 3
Limit: 15 participants

Calling all curious kids! Use your detective skills as we investigate the mysteries of the natural world, from the stars in the sky to the plants and animals in your own backyard. Nature Detectives must bring a lunch each day.

River Rats Camp

Where: Museum of York County
Ages: Students entering Grades 3, 4 & 5
Limit: 15 participants

Dive into the adventure of the Catawba River! Discover the river’s exciting stories, meet its animals and plants, and learn how you have the power to protect it. River Rats must bring a lunch each day.

Recycled Art Camp

Where: Museum of York County
Ages: Students entering grades 2, 3 & 4
Limit: 15 participants

Cost: CHM Members $70/week, Non-Members $90/week

Embark on a creative journey through the past and other cultures as you experience the artistic tradition of recycling and reuse. You’ll make your own amazing artwork along the way!

Story to Stage

Where: McCelvey Center
Ages: Students entering Grades 6, 7 & 8
Limit: 15 participants
Dates: July 26 - 30
Register by Wed, July 14
Time: Mon - Fri: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. & Fri: 6 - 8 p.m.
Cost: $50/week

Spend an amazing week this summer with other kids who love history and drama as much as you do. As interviewers, scriptwriters, directors, and actors, you’ll bring your community’s history to the stage as you discover stories of the past, turn them into a script, and perform in the historic McCelvey Center Theater.
