The Culture & Heritage Museums seeks a professional interpreter to serve in the role of interpreter at Historic Brattonsville and the Museum of York County. Join a team of nine professional interpreters and a host of dedicated volunteers in sharing the stories of the Bratton family and plantation, owned and lived on by three generations of the Bratton family. Your primary responsibility will be to interpret the lives of enslaved people at Historic Brattonsville, an award-winning, 775-acre backcountry plantation in the Carolina Piedmont which was the site of a Revolutionary War battle.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in history, education or a related field and must possess an enthusiasm for presenting to school groups and the public. Responsibilities include presenting demonstrations of the daily life experiences of enslaved people, historic trades, and crafts for school and public programs; giving tours, participating in weekend living history programs; and assisting in the development and implementation of special events and programs. The interpreter will also assist in interpreting the natural and environmental history of the Carolina Piedmont at the Museum of York County.

Membership Coordinator (Part-time)

Grade 10 ($14.05 to 19.68 per hour) Approximately 15-20 hours per week.

The Culture & Heritage Museums (CHM) seeks a part-time Membership Coordinator to lead a comprehensive membership program. Serving upstate South Carolina and the greater Charlotte, North Carolina region, CHM is York County’s family of museums, which includes Historic Brattonsville, McCelvey Center, Museum of York County, the future museum on the Catawba River and the new children's museum in Old Town Rock Hill.

Under general supervision, the Membership Coordinator works within the Advancement division to lead a comprehensive membership program for the Culture & Heritage Museums, coordinating activities related to member acquisition, retention, communications, programming, and benefits.

This position is part-time, with a flexible schedule, 15-20 hours per week. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required. This position requires strong attention to detail; excellent customer service and verbal and written communications skills; and strong computer skills, especially a capacity for database management.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in fundraising and/or marketing or related education and training. A bachelor's degree is required with 2 to 3 years customer service experience ideally in a museum, retail, library or educational/cultural institution.

Integrated Marketing Coordinator (Part-time)

Grade 12 ($15.69 to $21.97 per hour) Approximately 30 hours per week.

The Culture & Heritage Museums (CHM) seeks a part-time Integrated Marketing Coordinator to provide web maintenance, social media and print design at the Museum of York County.

Under general supervision, the Integrated Marketing Coordinator assists with upkeep of the CHM website, maintains social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Flicker, Digg, Trip Advisor, Blogger, YouTube and Wikipedia) and coordinates weekly e-newsletters, specialized e-blasts, in-house design and production of marketing materials. Performs general administrative duties in support of the Marketing and Visitor Services Division.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in web upkeep, social media and print design. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2-3 years experience is preferred.

This position is not eligible for health benefits but does receive prorated leave. CHM offers competitive compensation for its employees.
