Traveling Trunks

Museum collections travel to York County classrooms through the Traveling Trunk Program. Trunks filled with varied Museum Education objects enrich the school curriculum for all ages. Books, posters, video tapes and activity suggestions are included. Trunks may be reserved for one week.

Invertebrates: Here come the spineless!
Expand your classroom resources with the Invertebrate Trunk. Specimens of sea animals,spiders and arthropods are a perfect addition for your students’ close-up investigation.

Vertebrates: They’ve got backbone!
From the global to the local, the Vertebrate Trunk offers an opportunity to check out a puffer fish, sea turtle skull, bird feathers and nest, porcupine quills and more.

On Safari in Africa
Take an imaginary safari to Africa. Investigate a variety of African specimens from mammal skins, horns and claws, to feathers and quills. This trunk will enhance your students’ knowledge of Africa.

African Culture
Explore the diversity of African cultures through artwork such as masks and sculptural pieces, musical instruments and textile samples. This introduction to African culture is strongly recommended as a pre-visit introduction to the Africa Unmasked Tour and the Art ‘n Play Class.

* Borrowers transport all materials. Rock Hill schools can utilize their courier system for pick up and delivery. You are responsible for maintenance and return of all trunk contents and materials.
