Battle of Huck's Defeat

Event Details

Date: July 11, 2015
Time: 10:00 am—4:00 pm
Location: Historic Brattonsville

Event Description:

SAT, JULY 11 & SUN, JULY 12

During the American War for Independence (1775-1783) the Piedmont region or “backcountry” of the two Carolinas and Georgia was the scene of some of the most intense warfare of the entire conflict. Often referred to as “America’s first civil war,” the Revolution in the Carolina Backcountry divided families and pitted neighbor against neighbor.

Captain Christian Huck was part of this warfare, but why did he come to the Backcountry and what was he responsible for here in the Brattonsville community? Bring the family and learn the answers to these questions and more as you stroll through the encampments and interact with reenactors. There will be hands-on demonstrations throughout the site and battle reenactments each day. The Friends of Historic Brattonsville will offer food concessions, and there will be period items for sale along merchants row.

Adults: $8; Seniors: $6; Youth 4-17: $4; 3 and under free. CHM members free.
