An introductory workshop on the geology of the Carolina Piedmont, led by Dr. Steve Fields, Curator of Natural History and adjunct professor of biology at Winthrop University. Dr. Fields will lead you through the basics of rocks and minerals, how they form, and what they tell us about our region. Through hands-on activities, participants will identify rocks, test minerals and trace the dynamic origins of the earth beneath our feet. An optional field trip to Forty Acre Rock and the Great Dike of Pageland in Lancaster County will follow the workshop.
Pre-registration and payment is required by March 24, 2017.
$25 for CHM members
$35 for non-members
$15 for CHM volunteers.
Ages 12 and older. Under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a registered adult.
