The Education Department of the Culture & Heritage Museums is dedicated to inspiring people of all ages to better understand our natural world, history and heritage by instilling a sense of wonder and responsibility through exhibitions and programs. Homeschool programs will be offered on 2nd and 4th Mondays.

Join us on 4th Mondays for “Ask the Expert” series in our Naturalist Center. Visitors can explore, touch and discover the diversity and wonder of our natural world. Walk up homeschool families are encouraged to attend.
Ask the Expert: Wingin’ It! - Monday January 23; 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.
- Have you ever wanted to fly like a bird? Feathers might help but you would need much more to become a master of the air. Come and learn how birds get off the ground and stay on the fly.
- Limited to 40 participants.
Ask the Expert: Pieces of the Past - Monday February 27; 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.
- What is a fossil? Sometimes the only clues to ancient life are buried in our own backyards. Come learn about the creatures that once roamed the Carolinas. Bring your own fossils to share and discuss.
- Limited to 40 participants.
Ask the Expert: Rocking Good Time - Monday March 26; 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.
- Do you know that not all rocks are the same? From the fiery depths of volcanoes to the ridges of ancient mountains our resident rocks have a fantastic story to tell. Come and learn what makes rocks ROCK!
- Limited to 40 participants.
Ask the Expert: Scales and Slime - Monday April 23; 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.
- Are all cold-blooded critters the same? Come and learn the fact and the fiction behind reptiles and amphibians.
- Limited to 40 participants.
Reservations
Contact a Scheduler Monday – Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. Advance reservations are required for groups and must be made at least two weeks prior to your visit.

- Group rates and tours are only available for groups of 15 or more.
