The Keepers of the Culture Awards are designed to honor recipients for their commitment to keeping, communicating and connecting our cultural, historical and natural heritage through activities such as, but not limited to, teaching, research, scholarship, publishing, volunteerism, activism, advocacy, patronage, craftsmanship, visual/performing/literary arts, conservation and preservation. Since 1999, the Museums have celebrated deserving citizens whose achievements have helped to preserve cultural heritage in our region.
Special guest RICK BRAGG
Southern author Rick Bragg writes non-fiction books about his family and growing up in the community of Possum Trot, near Jacksonville, Alabama. His best-selling memoir, All Over but the Shoutin’, focuses on his childhood in Alabama and rise to become a Pulitzer-Prize-winning New York Times journalist.
The 2011 Keepers of the Culture are Terry Roueche, Kitty Wilson-Evans and Totty Wilkerson.
