Historical Center Programs

The Historical Center provides opportunities for genealogical and historical research through its extensive collections. Educational workshops take place on designated Saturdays each month from 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Workshops are free and open to the public.

O Brother: The Rock Hill Music Connection

Historian Michael Scoggins will discuss the gospel and country music sessions recorded at the Andrew Jackson Hotel in Rock Hill in 1938-1939, and how these reflect the muscial themes in the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? The hotel became a recording studio for RCA's "Bluebird" label in September 1938 and February 1939 and produced some of country music's standards.
