Ballads, Songs, and Stories of the Southern Appalachians

York, SC – Folksinger and storyteller Philip Cheney will present Ballads, Songs and Stories of the Southern Appalachians on Saturday, July 14 at 11am at the McCelvey Center in York.  Enjoy traditional tales and songs as the seasoned Anderson, South Carolina performer plays his 


five-string banjo and guitar. 


The event is one of the programs highlighting regional music as part of the Smithsonian Institution’s “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music” traveling exhibition on exhibit at the McCelvey Center through July 28.
