“By Way of the Back Door: The Enslaved at Historic Brattonsville”
African American Focus Site Tours
McConnells, SC – In conjunction with Historic Brattonsville’s Living History Saturday events during the month of February, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a 30-45 minute site tour that will concentrate on the lives of the enslaved who worked for the Bratton family through three generations. The focus of the tour will be on the slaves who belonged to Colonel William Bratton, Dr. John Simpson Bratton and going into the sons of Dr. John S. Bratton as well as those who were still on the plantation during and after the Civil War. Visitors will also learn about the descendant families who are still connected to the site. Tours begin at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Admission: Adult, $6; Senior, $5; Youth ages 4-17, $3; CHM members and children 3 and under are admitted FREE.
