McCelvey Center

York, SC – Find out what happened when General Daniel Morgan and his army of Continentals fought Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton’s British Regulars on January 17, 1781.

Join guest speaker Correll Kennedy, Park Guide from Cowpens National Battlefield, as he describes how Patriot victory was won in less than an hour along Green River Road as Morgan’s strategic placement of militia units, cavalry, and infantry hindered Tarleton’s advance in battle.

Spend an hour discovering why this battle was an important victory during the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution!  For more information, please contact the Historical Center of York County at 803-684-3948 ext. 2. or historicalcenter@chmuseums.org.
