Countdown to Kindergarten Kicks Off at Main Street Children’s Museum in Rock Hill
Friday, August 9, 2013 – 5:00-8:00 pm
Educational Celebration Provides Families an Opportunity to Connect with Local Agencies and Learn About Available Educational, Health, and Community Resources
Rock Hill, SC- Main Street Children’s Museum is proud to be a host site for the 10th annual South Carolina “Countdown to Kindergarten” event! This educational festival focuses on our area’s rising kindergarteners and their families to mark the exciting transition into school. “Countdown to Kindergarten” gathers families, educators, and community members to support this transition – and gives us all a reason to celebrate this developmental milestone for our early learners!
The Countdown to Kindergarten Festival will take place on Friday, August 9th, 2013 from 5pm – 8pm on Main Street in Old Town Rock Hill near the Main Street Children’s Museum. The evening will include FREE admission to the museum, informational booths, games, and music. Families can connect with representatives from York County school districts, state agencies, and local organizations to learn about educational, health, and community resources available to them. The Colgate Dental Van will be on hand to provide free dental screenings to children. In addition, rising kindergarteners can practice safely boarding a school bus provided by the Fort Mill School District.
In concert will be featured musician, Roger Day. A two-time Parents' Choice© Gold Award Winner, Roger Day will perform “Dream Big!” and other family favorites. Roger Day’s performance is made possible in part through the generous support of York County First Steps. Other performances at the main stage will include local groups, such as the Boys & Girls Club of York County Double Dutch Team and Thomas Gymnastics.
Countdown to Kindergarten is presented in collaboration with EdVenture Children’s Museum and sponsored by Boeing. Additional support provided by Publix Super Market Charities.
