Annual “Come Draw with Me Day” offers drawing opportunities for artists and want-to-be artists of all ages
ROCK HILL, SC – The Museum of York County will host the annual “Come Draw with Me” family fun day on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Museum visitors can join professional and student artists in sketching and rendering drawings taken from the museum’s vast collection of natural history specimens. The museum is a well suited place to study and draw nature’s perfect designs.
“Come Draw with Me Day” will offer special activities in addition to drawing opportunities at the Museum of York County. Professional artists will be on site demonstrating a variety of visual art techniques in watercolor, acrylics, shading techniques with pencil, graphic design on the computer, and photography. Young ones can draw with chalk and crayons and also try sculpting with clay in the museum classroom. Visitors can bring their own sketch book and materials or create their own sketch books out of recycled materials as a classroom activity.
The Museum of York County currently has two exhibitions that are particularly inspirational for visual artists: “Only Owls” features works of art in a range of styles and media including pencil, ink, watercolor and woodcut; “Carolina Landscapes” is a collection of large-scale realistic oil paintings by Aiken, SC artist Al Beyer.
