Southern Sound Series brings Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors to York on March 19


 


YORK, SC – The McCelvey Center’s Southern Sound Series presents the third show of the season on March 19, 2016. Drew Holcomb is an emerging singer/songwriter from Memphis who leads the Nashville based band - The Neighbors. Holcomb’s music has been featured on numerous television shows and commercials. The band, which includes Nathan Dugger and Rich Brinsfield, has played alongside groups such as the Avett Brothers, Ryan Adams, Los Lobos, and NEEDTOBREATHE. Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors have gained recognition in the music industry as independent recording artists selling more than 75,000 records. Their latest studio album, “Medicine,” was released in January 2015 and is available on CD and vinyl. Drew Holcomb was recently described by the East Nashvillian as a “true working-class musician” who has paid his dues and relies heavily on his faith and love for family.


 


About the Southern Sound Series:


The McCelvey Center, one of Culture and Heritage Museums’ four York County, SC venues, includes the 500-seat Lowry Family Theater. The historic theater is noted for its remarkable acoustics and charming 1920s ambiance. McCelvey Center’s Lowry Family Theater hosts the annual Southern Sound Series and the Grand Ole McCelvey concert series. The mission of the Lowry Family Theater is to present the unique heritage of the Carolina Piedmont through the performing arts while maintaining a quality venue for community enrichment.  The next concert for the 2016 Southern Sound Series will feature Iris DeMent on April 30.


 


Concerts start at 7:30 p.m. and are general admission. The 2016 Southern Sound Series is presented by the Friends of McCelvey in the McCelvey Center’s Lowry Family Theater.
