Prestigious National Lineage Society presents award to Culture and Heritage Museums’ Michael Scoggins
YORK, SC - The National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America has presented Michael Scoggins with the society’s annual Golden Shield Award. The award is in recognition of Scoggins’ contributions as a writer and researcher and for his commitment to local and regional military and American history. Scoggins, historian for Culture and Heritage Museums since 1999, also serves as research director for the Southern Revolutionary War Institute, which is located within the Historical Center of York County. Scoggins is the author of over 50 published books, academic papers and articles that preserve the history of South Carolina and the Southern Region.
The National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America is a lineage society founded in 1898 that focuses on promoting patriotic and historical projects aimed at preserving the history of the American Colonial era.
