Museum of York County to premiere new planetarium show “Did an Asteroid Really Kill the Dinosaurs?”
ROCK HILL, SC – The Museum of York County is adding a new planetarium show to their summer dinosaur-themed itinerary. “Did an Asteroid Really Kill the Dinosaurs?” will premiere on Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. in the museum’s Settlemyre Planetarium. The show explores the possibility of a six-mile wide space rock slamming into the Earth 66 million years ago and wiping out 75 percent of all living species at that time, including the dinosaurs. The new planetarium show, produced in 2016 by the Milwaukee Public Museum, presents the numerous craters on worlds like the moon, Mars, and even distant Pluto.
Cosmic collisions are abundant in our solar system; explore the dinosaur disaster up close in “Did an Asteroid Really Kill the Dinosaurs?” The show will be featured in the Museum of York County’s Settlemyre Planetarium from July 23 through September 10 on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and Tuesdays-Fridays at noon. The currently running planetarium program “Dinosaur Discovery” will run on Tuesdays-Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.
The Museum of York County’s dinosaur-themed summer programs are centered on “Dinosaur Revolution Maze,” an interactive learning experience within a maze setting.
