Event Description:

Our annual Hog Butchering Day highlights the age-old tradition of butchering and preserving pork for survival. Costumed interpreters will butcher hogs and preserve the meat using 19th century techniques.

• Food preservation using hog bladders
• Historic cooking with pork
• Sausage making
• Soap making
• Rendering fat into lard
• Local BBQ for sale
• Pork skins for sale
