August 11- Wet & Wild
An understanding of our environment can never be complete without hands-on investigations out in the field. This summer, the Museum of York County offers a chance to do just that; go outdoors with educators experienced in fieldwork. Fieldwork provides students with an opportunity to investigate, observe, collect data, and draw conclusions based on the evidence they have collected
Join us August 11 as we head down to Dutchman Creek to learn how scientists monitor water quality. Using protocols from South Carolina Adopt-A-Stream, students will explore the creek looking for macroinvertebrates and other signs of life that help indicate stream health. The class will have the opportunity to conduct and report results of water quality tests taken during the class. Activities and games from Project Wet will help students understand concepts in a fun and unique way.
Each session will begin at 8:50 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. at the Museum of York County. The cost is $10 per session or $25 for all three. Sign up here.
