From the schoolroom and the barnyard to the trade shop and the hearth\, this event will center on the arts\, mysteries\, and occupations that taught children about their world. Interested participants can collect stamps from each activity to fill a historic-style passport (included with admission). \nOn-going Activities\n• The Arts: Cooking & Candle-Dipping\n• The Mysteries: Meet the Naturalist with Dr. Steve Fields & Toys and Games\n• The Occupations: Writing with Quill Pens\, 18th Century Blacksmithing\, 18th Century “Mantua-Making” (ladies’ dressmaking)\, and “Animal Husbandry” \nTimed Activities\n• Brattonsville site tours (11 a.m.\, 1 p.m.\, & 3 p.m.) \nTickets\nPlease note: Brattonsville Road will be closed from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; please follow the posted detour.

DESCRIPTION:Member Exclusive | Free for Members | Pre-registration RequiredThis tour is best suited for ages 12 & up. \nJoin Sara Johnson\, Preservation/restoration Specialist and Joe Mester Assistant Site Director at the recently restored Brattonsville Female Seminary to learn about the process of bringing the 1840 school house back to life.  Originally the log house of Martha and Colonel William Bratton\, likely built in the 1760s\, the house changed form and use around 1839 when the Brattonsville Female Seminary was established to educate the seven daughters of Harriet and John S. Bratton. The tour will also include an opportunity to go up the winding stairs to see spaces rarely accessed by visitors.  A Q&A will follow and light refreshments will be served.
