The Middleton Family & More – Day Trip to Asheville, NC

Rock Hill, SC – As a culmination to the exhibition, A Life in the Woods: the Paintings of Sallie Middleton, the Museum of York County is hosting a visit to Asheville, NC, home to the artist and her family. Depart from the Museum of York County on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 with a late morning arrival in downtown Asheville. Lunch on your own at one of the many eclectic restaurants for which Asheville is known. After a guided tour through collections at the Asheville Art Museum followed by a special walking tour focusing on the architectural and art deco works of Sallie’s uncle, Douglas Ellington, the tour will make its final stop at the childhood home of Sallie Middleton.  The “Ellington House” is a private home and is currently being restored by Middleton’s daughter. Participants will enjoy a snack on the return journey.   Cost of the trip is $50 CHM members and $75 Non-members.  Cost includes transportation via mini-bus, museum admission, snacks and all fees.
