Occupations of the Past
Historic Brattonsville
Saturday, August 31, 2013

McConnells, SC – Many of the occupations of our ancestors from the 18th and 19th centuries have changed or disappeared over time, and others very much resemble what some folks do today.   Visit Historic Brattonsville on Saturday, August 31 from 10:00am until 4:00pm and observe the vocations that were a means of livelihood for the men and women who lived on the property.

Explore Historic Brattonsville as costumed interpreters demonstrate century-old trades of teaching, blacksmithing, doctoring, farming, soldiering, spinning and weaving, to name just a few.   Watch history come alive and talk to 1st person interpreters.  Dig in the dirt with a farmer, step into the wood working barn and use 19th century tools and much more.  See examples of their trade and join in with interpreters as they hone their skills.  Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the entire day’s activities throughout the site.

COST Adults, $6; Seniors, $5; Youth ages 4-17, $3; ages 3 and younger Free. CHM members, FREE.
