“Spirits and Stories: Brattonsville by Twilight”

McConnells, SC: Come join us for a spooky good time while learning the true stories that led to ghost legends and tales in York County!

Spirits & Stories: Brattonsville by Twilight 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Saturday, October 19 at Historic Brattonsville, 1444 Brattonsville Road, McConnells, SC. Day activities will include classic Halloween crafts and games; and a children’s Halloween costume contest. World renowned storyteller, Tim Lowry, will be providing chilling tales around a warm fire. Once the sun goes down, the guided ghost tours will begin. Visitors will learn the true legends that led to many popular ghost stories while walking the grounds of Historic Brattonsville at Twilight. Be sure to bring your own flashlight!

The family friendly daylight activities 6:00 to 7:30 pm will include: Parlor Games, Corn Cobb Toss, Cooking Demonstration and Apple Bobbing. You can also try your hand at Candle Wax Divination, which was a popular fortune telling activity involving pouring hot wax into water to see what a future husband’s job would be. Whatever the shape appeared to look like after it had cooled would identify the future husband’s career choice. For example: if it looked like an axe, he would be a woodsman; if it looked like a book, she might enjoy the life of a lawyer’s wife. The children’s costume contest will take place at 7:30 pm.

The Ghost Tours and Ghost Story Telling will begin at 7:30 pm. Because the evening tours may be too intense for young children, we request that the tours be reserved visitors 12 years and up.
