Five-four-three-two-one- It’s time for “Countdown to Kindergarten”

ROCK HILL, SC – “Countdown to Kindergarten” is a free annual event that brings families, educators and community members together to support rising kindergarteners as they begin their educational journey. The educational festival takes place indoors at Main Street Children’s Museum and St. John’s United Methodist Church. Old Town will be buzzing with fun activities and games with over thirty community exhibitors. Musician Roger Day returns to sing his crafty songs for the kids to groove to.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” connects families with local agencies to learn about available educational, health, and community resources. Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Futures will provide free pediatric dental screenings and River Hills Lake Wylie Lions Club will provide free vision screenings. Parents can gather information about after-school programs and youngsters can explore a real school bus. Representatives from public school systems will be available to answer questions. Community exhibitors will offer activities and school supply giveaways. Sign-up for a library card, check-out some good books at the York County Book Mobile and visit the Friends of the York County Library bookstore.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” happens Thursday, August 3 from 5 - 7 p.m.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” is a partnership between Culture & Heritage Museums, York County First Steps, and York County School Districts.

Sponsorship for 2017 “Countdown to Kindergarten” is graciously provided by Publix Super Markets Charities, York County First Steps and Absolute Total Care.
