It’s time for “Countdown to Kindergarten”

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Get the kids ready and celebrate the developmental milestone of kindergarten. “Countdown to Kindergarten” is a free event that brings families, educators and community members together to support rising kindergarteners as they begin their journey of learning. Buzzing with exciting activities and information with over 30 community exhibitors, the annual event is a fun way to help young ones transition into school. Youngsters can climb aboard a school bus, meet a fireman, and receive a free book while parents learn about school resources such as after-school programs and school food service options. Musician Roger Day returns, guitar in hand, with his witty, toe-tapping songs that get the kids moving and grooving as they put on their thinking caps and sing along.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” takes place indoors at St. John’s United Methodist Church on 321 S. Oakland Avenue. Pick up a free ticket at the church to receive free family admission during the event to Main Street Children’s Museum, which is just around the corner. The Friends Bookstore on Main will also be open and welcoming families.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” is a partnership between Culture & Heritage Museums, York County First Steps, and Clover, Fort Mill, Rock Hill and York School Districts. Thanks to Publix Super Markets Charities, York County First Steps and Absolute Total Care for their sponsorships.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” happens Thurs., Aug. 2 from 5 - 7 p.m.
