Professional and emerging artists come together for Museum of York County’s event “Come Draw with Me”

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Participate and observe local artists at work during Museum of York County’s annual event “Come Draw with Me.” This year, thanks to a $500 award from the Arts Council of York County Small Grants Program, sketch pads and art supplies will be available as needed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Artists are invited to set up in the museum’s many galleries to draw from the vast collection of natural history specimens.

“Come Draw with Me” is an opportunity to observe and learn from professional artists at work. The Catawba River Arts Guild will be on site to guide emerging artists in drawing plants and animals in water ecosystems for a special project that explores aquatic habitats. The museum exhibits team will talk about the artistry involved in creating compelling displays. A special STEAM arts program takes place in the auditorium for Main Street Children’s Museum guests.

“The Museum of York County is thankful for the support of the Arts Council of York County. The grant helps to supply drawing materials to our visitors and encourages them to be active participants during the event,” affirms Allison Taylor, assistant manager for Museum of York County and Main Street Children’s Museum.

Support for Come Draw with Me is provided in part by the Arts Council of York County Small Grants Program, and by a generous award from the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, and the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
