Nature Trail
Explore the sights and sounds of a Piedmont forest and creek along our ¾ mile loop trail. Scan the QR code at the trail head to log your Track Trail adventure and be sure to grab an activity book from our Track Trail kiosk to guide your exploration. Be on the lookout for native trees, seasonal wildflowers and resident wildlife such as birds, reptiles and insects. Pause at the edge of Big Dutchman Creek or bring a lunch to enjoy in our shaded picnic area. The Track Trail activities at Museum of York County are made possible through generous support from the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. Geocaching is not allowed at Museum of York County or on our trail.
Educational Gardens
Educational gardens are located around the Museum. Behind the Museum, visitors will find our Carolina Fence Garden and Monarch Way Station. To the side of the Museum, visitors will find our Pollinator Garden, made possible through support from South Carolina Wildlife Federation. All of the gardens at Museum of York County are Certified Wildlife Habitats with South Carolina Wildlife Federation. Visitors will find educational signage that provides information on birds, butterflies, and more.
Musical Instruments
Our Pollinator Garden is home to larger-than-life pollinators of a musical variety featuring nature-inspired musical instruments from Percussion Play. These instruments invite visitors to play and create as they explore the garden space. These instruments were installed through a generous gift from an anonymous donor and grant funding from York County Community Foundation.
Observational Bee Hive
Our observational beehive is located in our enclosed picnic area at the back of the Museum. Located in a prime position between our Fence Garden and Pollinator Garden, it offers visitors the opportunity to see these pollinators hard at work.
