Current Public Show Descriptions

Carolina Skies
A live seasonal program that explores and explains what is currently visible in our nighttime skies.  From planets to stars to constellations, visitors of all ages can learn how to identify features in our Carolina Skies.

CAPCOM GO! The Apollo Story
On July 20, 1969, 600 million people around the world gathered to witness a historic moment of human achievement broadcast live from the Moon. The world celebrated as the astronauts took their first steps on the Moon. But few people were aware of just how huge an effort it had taken to get them there. These Apollo 11 astronauts were just 2 of nearly 400,000 people who had worked over ten years towards this goal. But how did they do it? What did it take to put humans on the Moon?

Big Bird’s Adventure: One World, One Sky
Elmo and Big Bird live in the United States, and Hu Hu Zhu lives far away in China, but they discovered that they still see the same stars at night! They take learners on a journey of discovery to learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Sun, and the Moon.
