Living History Saturday: Juneteenth

June 15 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join us for Living History Saturdays in June. This month we are focusing on the history of traditional skilled arts and their connection to the Carolina Piedmont. This living history event highlights the history of Juneteenth, its connection to the Brattonsville community, and traditional African-American art forms.

Activities will include:
• Cooking Demo: with recipes such as Strawberry Pie & traditional BBQ
• Natural Dyeing: featuring the traditional colors of red, black, and green
• Create a Juneteenth Booklet: visitors can collect recipes, historical information, documents, and other artifacts at each demonstration to create a take-home souvenir of their Juneteenth celebration at Brattonsville.
• Reading of General Order No. 3 (This scheduled activity will take place at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.)
