Geology Rocks! Family Day at Museum of York County on Sept. 23

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Have a ‘gneiss’ day at “Geology Rocks! Family Day” at the Museum of York County. Drop-in programs highlight the world of geology. Explore fossils, birthstones, and glowing minerals. Observe flint knapping with Thomas Ray. The museum’s Naturalist Center has an abundant collection of rocks and minerals for hands-on learning. Bring in your favorite rocks to be identified by expert geologists. “Did an Asteroid really Kill the Dinosaurs?” is the featured planetarium show.

Dirt Dauber Deb’s Mobile Gem Mine will be on site for “Geo Rocks! Family Day” at the Museum of York County. Please note: Gem mining at Dirt Dauber Deb’s Mobile Gem Mine is covered for the first 100 miners with paid museum admission. Additional fees apply for upgraded buckets (paleo, large, etc.). There is a $10 minimum fee for Dirt Dauber Deb’s Mobile Gem Mine if paying with credit or debit cards. Cash is encouraged. After first 100 buckets, the visitor will pay the full price.
