Behind the Scenes Tour

at Historic Brattonsville
Free for Members | Pre-registration Required
This tour is best suited for ages 12 & up.
Join Sara Johnson, Preservation/Restoration Specialist, and Joe Mester, Assistant Site Director, at the recently restored Brattonsville Female Seminary to learn about the process of bringing the 1840 schoolhouse back to life. Originally the log house of Martha and Colonel William Bratton, likely built in the 1760s, the house changed form and use around 1839 when the Brattonsville Female Seminary was established to educate the seven daughters of Harriet and John S. Bratton. The tour will also include an opportunity to go up the winding stairs to see spaces rarely accessed by visitors. A Q&A will follow, and light refreshments will be served.

Come and join us as we delve into the science behind your favorite science fiction books, movies, and TV shows like Godzilla and The Last of Us! What animals could actually evade the Predator in real life? Not only will these questions be answered, but you will also learn more about water conservation in relation to Dune by Frank Herbert; discuss camouflage, metamorphosis, and mimicry in animals as it relates to Men in Black; and enjoy a stunning planetarium show based on the planets from Star Wars! Grab your light saber and hover board to Museum of York County and join us!
